Rodd Hotels Leads Atlantic Canada

Travelers have long associated Rodd Hotels and Resorts with quality accommodation when they visit Atlantic Canada. Mary Lou MacFarlane, Quality Assurance Manager for the organization and a GMIST graduate, wants to make sure that customers also associate the Rodd name with responsible tourism practices. Since the Greening Your Business Level I workshop last November, Mary Lou has been working hard on the goals she established. An Environmental Policy has been developed and inserted into the hotels' guest directory along with their environmental accomplishments. The information will also be available on their website in the near future. They have joined the Energy Innovators initiative and are hoping to secure funding so that energy audits can be completed on all their hotels. Rodd Hotels and Resorts is also using their purchasing power to make ‘green' changes in their supply chain. “We've also started to express our environmental desires with our suppliers”, Mary Lou says, “So far, all our printed material and paper supplies are made up of recycled paper or has minimum recycled content in it”.
