Rodd Charlottetown Gets Covetted Environmental Rating

Charlottetown, PE -- Rodd Charlottetown -- A Rodd Signature Hotel has cleared its final verification and certification hurdle in early August, placing it among Canada's leaders in environmentally responsible management in the hotel industry. Rodd Charlottetown attained this distinction in the Hotel Association of Canada's GreenLeaf™ Eco-Rating Program.
“This program will bring Rodd Charlottetown to a new standard of operational efficiency,” hotel general manager, Gary Craswell said today. “This program helps us carry out our corporate goal to be environmentally accountable while providing quality service. With environmental concerns being addressed almost daily in the news, we wanted to assure our guests that we take great care to meet environmental standards. This way our guests can relax and enjoy their stay with the comfort that they made an environmentally responsible choice.”
The program covers a variety of operational functions such as, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, waste management, and water and energy consumption. Hotel properties follow a checklist covering virtually all aspects of their operation, after a verification visit they are then awarded their Green Leaf rating.
“Rodd Charlottetown shows tremendous leadership in operational and environmental issues by being involved in the program,” says Kevin Gallagher, Vice-President of the TerraChoice Environmental Services Inc., which manages the program. “It's a perfect fit for business and recreational travelers,” says Gallagher, “whether they are meeting the mandate of the corporate policy or personal preference to be environmentally responsible.”
There are more than 170 lodging facilities from St. John's, Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, British Columbia in the program.
