Rodd Golf Event Raises $25,000 for IWK

MILL RIVER, PE – The McCain Foods team of Joel Leger, Kevin Bacheg, Greg Milton and Chris Covey were the winners on the course but this big winner from the Rodd Golf Fore Kids Golf Tournament, held at Mill River is the IWK Children's Hosptial.
Rodd Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with Labatt Breweries and Golf Links PEI organized the tournament drawing 130 golfers from across Atlantic Canada. The tournament raised $25,000 for the IWK Children's Hospital.
Over the past four years Rodd Hotels & Resorts has donated approximately $20,000 in the IWK. Mary Ellen Dougan, the marketing manager for the company said this year with the addition of the golf tournament, the contribution will likely total approximately $35,000. The final tally will be known by the time the annual IWK telethon rolls around this weekend.
“We are pleased to be able to support such a cause that has touched most of us over the years” commented David Rodd, president and CEO of Rodd Hotels & Resorts.
The McCain Foods team turned in the lowest scorecard, carding 58 in the best ball tournament. A pair of teams from Labatt Breweries ended up second and third. In second place with a team score of 59 were Ernie Hatfield, Dave Clayton, Dean Kenley and Rob Dill. The team of Rand Kellock, Phil Currie, Dick Cashen and Clyde Horner was third with a round of 62.
Rand Kellock won the longest drive competition and Tim Arnold was the winner in the closest to the hole contest. Deemed the most honest team was Team IWK. Kathy O'Rourke was declared the bravest player. Kyle Stewart, last year's IWK champion child, was the youngest golfer in the competition.
