Get up close and personal with a lobster. Smell the salt air, feel the gentle breeze against your face, enjoy the thrill of taking a lobster right out of a trap and savour the experience of a traditional Island lobster supper aboard the 45-foot fishing boat Top Notch with Captain Mark Jenkins.

Piping Plover Patrol

Piping Plovers are an endangered species with less than a hundred found on Island beaches. Become a member of the Parks Canada Piping Plover Patrol with specialist Linda Thomas. You’ll join Linda for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the work being done to protect these marvelous little birds.

Gilbert Gillis has been digging clams on Prince Edward Island ever since he was the age of this little fellow....and there's nothing he loves more than showing visitors his favourite clamming spots in the eastern part of the Island and then his wife Goldie Gillis will cook up a “feed” of what you find and chowder too!

The tide is out….a spade in one hand and a bucket in the other. That’s pretty much all you need to go clamming. Ron Perry has been digging clams since he was little boy. He's full of stories and will talk your ear off as he helps you bring back a "feed" of clams.

Want to know what it’s like to actually hop on a sulky and drive a standard bred racehorse around the track? As a Driver for a Day you’ll get an introduction to everything that goes into training and driving one of these beautiful animals.

Just Horsin’ Around

There's nothing more calming than watching mares and foals on a warm sunny day. At Meridian Farms near Charlottetown, this is an every day occurrence. You’ll learn all about the business of raising standard bred horses, how they’re trained and how they’re raced. And if you like, you can even take one for a spin around the track.

Gongfu Cha means "the making of an excellent cup of tea." and Pat Craig has definitely perfected the art after spending two years in China. The tea ceremony is a feast for the senses…the aroma of the teas mingle with the smell of incense as gentle oriental music plays in the background while you sample white, green, oolong and black teas.

The ultimate oyster lovers experience. Our oyster fisher will take you out in his dory and show you how to tong for your own oysters….and then shuck them right out of the water. It doesn’t get any fresher than this. Learn how to tell the difference between standard and choice…then try your hand at shucking a few….and of course eating them too!

Papermaking is a craft whose ancient technique was invented almost 2,000 years ago in China 105 A.D. While the process of mass producing paper has been refined, making paper by hand is still guided by the ancient methods and Linda McCausland will guide you through the process.

Prince Edward Island's first outdoor theatre pageant, celebrating in story and song the colourful history of Victoria by the Sea. We have arranged for you to go along with the Fiddler on a story-telling walk through the village and you will get an exclusive backstage tour of the historic Victoria Playhouse with Artistic Director Erskine Smith.

Master Caster

Become a Master Caster and create your own personal pewter pendant, brooch or other jewelry piece. You'll work alongside our professional Master Caster, Bev Roach who will take you through the step-by-step process she uses everyday to create beautiful works of art.

Enter a strange world populated by some of the most bizarre creatures you’ve ever seen. There are cats and frogs ... lobsters and spiders...lady slippers and daisies ... turtles, flies and crabs.
All the creations are by Dianne and Eric Schurman who have a passion for taking things other people don’t want and turning them into amazing works of intriguing folk art. You will work with Eric and Dianne to create your own personal creature.

Imagine taking magnificent photographs like this with a camera you make yourself from an old tin can! Under the creative guidance of Mary Carr-Chaisson you could be creating your own photographic works of art. You'll leave with your own pinhole camera, photos you took yourself and a great story to tell your friends and relatives back home about what you did on your vacation!

Seaweed Secrets

Seaweed Secrets

Seaweed can be found washed up on shorelines all around the Island and each kind has fascinating stories and many have practical uses. Irish moss has particular significance and Gilbert will show you how it’s harvested and his wife Goldie will teach you how to turn it into delicious seaweed pie.

GPS Adventure Quest

GPS Adventure Quest

Geocaching has been described as a high-tech scavenger hunt. You use a handheld GPS unit to find caches that have been hidden around the Island. It is a unique way to see Prince Edward Island because the caches are usually hidden in places most tourists would never visit because they don’t know about them.

Step Back in Time

Step Back in Time

Re-live the story of the Prince Edward Island ship building industry in its glory days. You’ll explore the restored Victorian rooms of historic Yeo house in Port Hill, home of successful ship builder James Yeo Jr., considered to be the richest and most influential man in the colony in the mid-1800’s. And you’ll participate in the chores of the day…spinning, weaving, gardening, baking scone...

Available: Daily 1:00-4:00 pm.

By the end of August, with the summer days shortening and the air turning crisp, it’s apple picking time at Wintermoor Orchard in York, Prince Edward Island. Pick your own apples and then make your own cider.

Fee: $75/pp (includes jug of cider/bag of apples). Group rates for +4 participants

Join Ellen MacPhail aboard Picture Perfect for an afternoon or evening of hands-on learning. Feel the warm summer breeze against your face as you take the helm and the rush of the wind filling the sails as you raise them up the mast. You'll learn about points of sail, boat handling, charts and GPS navigation….and enjoy smoked salmon and sparkling cider.

There's not much Ben Smith likes more than sharing his passion for candle making. His candles are definitely one of a kind. Each is hand carved ... there are no two ever exactly alike....and of course making your own guarantees it will be particularly unique.

The Art of Fly Tying

The Art of Fly Tying

Fly tying is an art. It requires creativity...skill...patience and perserverance. All of which Dave Banks has and he loves to share his knowledge with people interested in trying their hand at tying flies. Tie your own and Dave will give you a dozen.

Available: Daily/evenings (except Wed).
