Banquet Porter

Rodd Grand Yarmouth Hotel is seeking a dedicated, service-oriented individual to join our team as a Banquet Porter. This role is essential in ensuring the successful execution of meetings, events, and functions by maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and guest satisfaction.

Pay: From CA$16.75 per hour

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Position Summary: The Banquet Porter is responsible for the setup, service and break down of all meetings and events in accordance with the Hotel’s high standards of quality. The Porter also ensures all venues are well-maintained and cleaned including any safety or AV/equipment needs, adjustments or repairs, prior to or after an event.

Responsibilities:
 

• Set up meeting and event spaces according to guest specifications, including arranging tables, chairs, staging, and other equipment
• Tear down, clean, and reset meeting rooms promptly following events to ensure readiness for subsequent functions
• Transport and handle equipment and materials (up to 75 lbs), including tables, chairs, staging, and dance floors
• Set up, maintain, and dismantle catering, AV, and related equipment as required
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all meeting spaces in accordance with established schedules
• Replenish supplies in meeting rooms in a timely and professional manner
• Assist with inventory control of meeting room and audiovisual equipment
• Ensure storage areas remain clean, organized, and accessible
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
• Support banquet staff as needed to ensure seamless event execution
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:
 

• Prior banquet and/or hospitality experience preferred
• Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards
